Scylla’s view – January 2026

I don’t know where countries begin or end. I know when the day changes shape.

Some days we walk, then we move, then we stop.
Other days we walk longer, and the moving part is shorter.
Sometimes the ground smells familiar. Sometimes it doesn’t.

What stays the same is the order.

I wake. I go out. I move my body. I drink. I eat. I rest.
When that order holds, everything else adjusts around it.

Transit days are not a problem for me. They are predictable. I settle when the engine starts. I lift my head when it stops. I wait. Waiting is not difficult when it has always ended well.

I watch closely, but I don’t worry ahead.

My body feels strong enough. It is used carefully. I move every day, but not without reason. When my legs are tired, I am allowed to stop. When my joints are stiff, we go more slowly. No one asks me to ignore what my body is saying.

That matters.

My mind is occupied, but not crowded. When space is smaller, I am given work — things to solve, food to find, shapes to think about. When space is large, I am allowed to use it. One does not replace the other.

I am not distracted from needing to move. I am helped to wait when waiting is necessary.

I know where my people are. I know where I will sleep. I know that food arrives. These things are not exciting, but they are important. Because of them, my breathing stays slow. My sleep stays deep.

I watch the humans more closely on some days. On days when they are alert, when they watch signs and listen carefully and talk less, I become quieter. I do not need to take control. I only need to stay close.

They manage many things I do not need to understand. They manage them well enough that I can continue being a dog.

No one has asked me to be brave.
No one has asked me to adapt quickly.
I have not been rushed.

Because of that, my body trusts the pattern. And because my body trusts the pattern, my mind stays calm.

I do not know that we have travelled far.
I know that the day still makes sense.

That is what keeps me well.
